Week Two: Stairs Submission

Sections

The following sections are the concepts which were considered during brainstorming.

AutoFabrica

Figure 5: View from basement floor

The AutoFabrica stair design consists of pointed steps suspended from the ceiling
using metal wires. The design choice of using sharp edges is to reinforce the sleek and
Cyberpunk style of the basement. Additionally, the set of stairs create an illusion of
movement and depth when viewed from the angle of descent, which reflects the
progressive nature of AutoFabrica's work.

the path downwards appears smooth and progress diagonally

the path downwards now appears edged and straight

Figure 8: View from ground floor
In contrast with the sharpness of the basement stairs, the stairs to BernabeiFreeman
focus on softness and comfort, highlighted in the pastel colours and the curved outline.
A significant design choice is the integration of the staircase with the surrounding walls,
through the sloped transition from staircase to ceiling.
